Woman tries to smuggle 2kg cocaine in fake pregnancy

A woman has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle two kilograms of cocaine in a fake baby bump.

Tabitha Leah Ritchie was about to board a long hall flight when she was stopped. An anti-drugs officer asked her how far into her pregnancy she was. The 28-year-old told him she was seven months pregnant but she was frisked. When the officer at El Dorado airport touched her stomach he realised that it was cold and hard.

She had been flying from Bogota, Columbia, to Toronto. A false latex belly taped to her body and 2kg of cocaine were discovered, said Colonel Esteban Arias Melo.

He said: "The Canadian citizen tried to fool public security forces by faking a pregnancy.
